hunger for god

Hi yall! 2024 has been an ADVENTURE: physically, mentally, emotionally and more importantly spiritually.

Preface: ”Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Despite the past two weeks of traveling, I started a journey 40 days ago on March 4th. I heard a yearning from the Holy Spirit after being stuck in a vicious cycle of hyper focusing on my bodybuilding diet, food in general, and I was wondering what I should do with my life after graduating college. Where was God calling me? I came to a fork in the road spiritually, I believe I started loving and focusing on food more than I did on God, allowing social media and distractions to take my time away from God instead of drawing into Him. I prayed about this and made it my intention to draw close to God and this is how I did it.

So in this battle with the flesh and soul, I was compelled by the Holy Spirit to do a 40 day no carb fast. Not for the benefits of the physical depletion or the mental toughness or even to brag that I did this despite all the physical challenges that came along with it, but to know and believe 2 Timothy 1:7 ”For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.“

I JUST WANT TO SAY, I DID NOT DO THIS BY HUMAN POWER. THIS SUPERNATURAL FAST AND EXPERIENCE OF HIKING A MOUNTAIN WITH 2,700 ft elevation with no carbs, TRAINING INTENSE AND PRing in my lifts, being condemned for doing the fast, to doing the day to day tasks and continually pressing on.

I’m telling my testimony because I believe and confidently know this can help someone. I heard a message along with many more from God during this fast, God wants you to be a voice not an echo. What God is saying to you he wants to say through you!

This isn’t about me, it never was! It was allowing the Holy Spirit to lead me closer to God. Drawing closer and boy I’m all jacked up on the Holy Spirit! (If you’ve see Talladega nights you know what I’m referencing)

Jesus before He started His ministry He was “LED by the SPIRIT into the wilderness..to be TEMPTED” Mark 1:12

He knew TEMPTATIONS were to come! He was compelled to go draw closer to God in the wilderness for a time and place, before His Great Commission started. Jesus knew what was to come but He pressed on.

You may or may not know what temptations are to come along, but know this:

“The more worthy a goal and the more changes you go through to reach it, the more resistance you’ll encounter. Expect that—plan for it.” - Ed Mylett

Jesus planned for it. So can you by the power of the Holy Spirit within you! Are you willing to take the leap of faith? Ill leave you pondering with this:

JUST GO READ ROMANS 8 it’s good for you!

”You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.“

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭9‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬
